Really amazing weekend, managed to cover all bases and still go for a ride in tokai on Sunday. I did manage to fall off my bike. To my credit we where doing the downhill bit of the tokai course. Its not like I fell off riding up a hill.
Friday night we went out to tiger tiger and I had some quality time with Gareth Cliff who was kind enough to not set the bouncers onto me. Tiger tiger in Claremont is pretty crazy though, free drinks until 10 clock gets me everytime. We are in danger of becoming locals there. Free drinks and skanky girls are definate bad mixture.
Symphony of fire was like heaven, we sat there on the grass no one infront of us. Speaker right there and cute waitresses bringing us any drink we asked for. I did feel a little rough the next day. |

As the dust settles, the search for the tennis ball continues. A full swing, a goal!! No-sorry, feet touched the floor. As the Dirty barmen serves up another round.
The first two days proved to be a little quite as peoples work responsibilities got the better of them. Thursday night saw the start of the official South African round robin bicycle polo tournament. Two bicycles, two chairs and two plastic hockey sticks was all that’s needed. Fun was had by all spectators as players was biting the dust on more than just a few occasions. Problems arising surprisingly quickly as one handed front wheel braking causing the players to dramatically flip over.
I arrived Friday afternoon straight from work. Luckily my buddies had already setup camp, so straight into my crew shirt (blue is so much more my colour than last years mustard) and report for duty at the bar.

It was tough! Three major climbs on each lap (two laps for the 35km). Each one we had to get off and push the last hundred metres along with the rest of the meer mortals we cycled with. Was a very lekker ride though, thought I was doing pretty well with the downhills over taking some full suspension bikes, until one I had just overtaken at the top of the hill came flying past at the base of the hill screaming incoming. Nice touch I thought.
Young guys on cheap bikes right up there aswell, good on them! Leons mom proving that it runs in the family managing to pick up 2 girls from maties. One who came 3rd in the short race nogal! Next race is adventure race, so we are training hard. Im a member of two gyms at the moment both virgin and planet fitness are trying to tempt me. Im such a gym slut. |

The results are out on the web -> here
Leon and I both got a time of 1:45:56 but my name was listed first the wonders of alphabetic order. So we have a time to beat next year, or maybe a team entry?
Leons uncle lent us the house in gordons bay which gave us less things to worry about. We did manage to have a last minute panic about not having the correct coloured swimming cap so had to drive around table view trying to find one on saturday morning. For the record his cap comes from a girls surf shop! |

To celebrate the middle of exams and the fact tammy is going home on tuesay we decided to have a party. The digital Whorehouse crew came and helped us with our photos. Guy and I were playing around on our bikes, well he was showing off where I was falling off but hey we had fun. |

What an amazing weekend! Leon Guy and I crewed and ran the bar. Bike polo was very cool on saturday night, the dirty barmen team lasting 2 rounds before being knocked out. The other "Guy" arrived on friday night, the camp site was locked so he came straight to the bar. The funny thing was that he was waering face paint, turns out he had driven straight from this daughters birthday party. Sunday night I helped marshall the night ride, really amazing being left in a valley with only my little torch and then seeing a stream of moutain bikes with there spot lights coming over the hill and cycling past. The only down side to marshalling is that there is always one person who takes it apon themselves to tell you how crap/wet/bad the course is. Shame on them..
Leon, Guy and myself rode the downhill course on sunday which was very cool, I had to phsyc myself up to do the man made bridges but I managed it ok. Dual course was also good pracise, Leon kicking my ass everytime though! |

More dirt jumping, baby steps getting higher every time. Brilliant photos by Ronnie the Artistic photographer! We need more expert training from the legendary Guy Da Graef.
