Marcus Paauwe lived with me in Cork from November 2008 till May 2009 when he suddenly disappeared. Turned out they owed me and many other people money (combined many thousands of euros). As we did more research we found he had been doing this for years all over Europe. My first post describing what we found when he initially left -> http://www.baldy.za.net/node/665
In the last 6 months, I have found out some more information and tracked down Marcus Paauwe to a B&B near the main train station in Frankfurt. Managed to get in contact with him on his new email address beatsteak76@googlemail.com (even asked him out on a date www.neu.de). He was very apologetic via email and of course promised to pay the money he owed me, but did not follow through on his promises. He was working as network admin till two of his previous employers had found out about his past on the internet and asked him to leave. |

Marcus Paauwe and his then girlfriend lived with me in Cork from November 2008 till May 2009 when they suddenly did a runner. We came home to find they had packed everything and left without as much as leaving a note. What a coward, he could have at least written a note saying so long sorry about the money I owe you.
He left owing just over a months rent. I found out I got off pretty luckily, his colleagues at Apple we he worked had made him personal loans which he of course will not be paying back as he has presumably left the country. After he had left I started opening his mail to try and get some idea of where he has gone to. This revealed that he had also taken out a personal loan from a loan company (charging 150% APR). So he is really working it from every angle and will get caught out eventually. I did my bit and called up his bank and the loan company making them aware so they can monitor and hopefully freeze his accounts. |

After a my stream of brilliant flat mates, I was beginning to think that this share accommodation thing was just like every episode of friends.
With the coming of winter I have made certain plans, a key component in these plans being a decent wingman. After all its not a bachelor flat else bachelors live there. So it was with some excitement that a French guy got in contact with me to stay for 6 weeks.
After some basic facebook stalking I found his profile page with a picture of him mountain biking. Our conversations over email also went well with discussion of other such manly bachelor things as Czech beer and the local pubs. He also worked for Apple so would have a large resource of colleagues from the furthest reaches (and best looking) parts of Europe.
So I thought this was a great deal and had visions of our duo of French style and charm together with my South Africanism would devastate the local female population.
